Paralives vs Sims 4: Personality Systems Compared
A migration guide for Sims 4 veterans switching to Paralives — updated 2026-05-28
If you're coming from Sims 4 expecting "pick 3 traits from 60+", Paralives is structurally different. There's no flat trait pool. Instead, you pick one option from each of 5 subsystems plus allocate 4 stats.
This guide maps Sims 4 mental models to Paralives equivalents — and flags where the mapping breaks.

What survives the move
Muscle memory: console + cheats. The Paralives cheat syntax is similar enough that Sims 4 vets will recognize patterns. The [skill] parameter convention, all-caps commands, and live-mode console access all transfer.

Big-picture choices. The decision to play a "cheerful flirty cook" still maps cleanly:
- Cheerful (Sims 4 trait) → Overjoyed (Paralives Vibe)
- Romantic (Sims 4 trait) → Good at Romantic Relationships (Paralives Social Perk)
- Cooking aspiration → Food Talent
The combo: Overjoyed + Food + Good at Romantic Relationships.
What doesn't survive
1. There is no "121 traits" list
A common misconception (we held it ourselves at one point): Paralives doesn't have a flat list of 60+ or 121+ traits. The structure is 5 separate axes. Stop searching for "all Paralives traits" — search for all Paralives Vibes, Talents, and Social Perks instead.
2. Trait synergies/conflicts aren't a thing (yet)
The Sims 4 has implicit synergies (Romantic + Bookworm work well for poetry-writing). Paralives' wiki documents no synergy or conflict rules. The synergies_with / conflicts_with fields exist in our data but are empty across all 28 elements — they're empty on the wiki, and we don't make them up.
3. Stats are numeric, not trait-flavored
Sims 4 doesn't ask you to allocate stat points. Paralives gives you 4 stats (Physique, Mind, Creativity, Charisma), each 1–3, with a 7-point total budget. Only 16 valid combinations exist. The Personality Planner's stat stepper enforces this in real-time.
4. Lifestyle effects are mostly unknown
Sims 4's Lifestyles (Snowy Escape DLC) had specific buffs. Paralives' Lifestyle dropdowns (Sleeping Habits, Cleaning Habits) have wiki-acknowledged unknown effects. We don't fill in the unknowns.
5. Talent evolutions are NOT aspirations
Aspirations in Sims 4 are goal-driven. Paralives' Talent Evolutions are passive stage unlocks that happen as your parafolk practices the linked Skills. Fitness Talent → Happy Exerciser → Motivator is not a checklist, it's a progression curve.

Bottom line
Paralives' personality system is more axis-based and less flat-list than Sims 4. Once you internalize the 5 subsystems, the Personality Planner makes 336 combinations explorable in seconds. The cheat layer feels familiar enough — same vibes, different syntax.
